DataKnobs-managed cloud, LLM & infrastructure

One managed platform.
Usage stays under control.

DataKnobs can manage and host EKIP, data services, and approved AI models for you. Managed infrastructure runs against a prepaid usage budget with transparent metering, alerts, approval gates, and hard spending limits.

Commercial structure

Four charges, each with a clear purpose.

Platform value, managed operations, and variable provider consumption are separated so both parties can control financial risk.

1

Activation

Discovery, data integration, Knob configuration, evaluation, testing, and launch.

One-time scoped fee
2

Platform

EKIP, governed Data Products, lineage, evaluation, monitoring, and optimization.

Annual subscription
3

Managed environment

Hosting, operations, observability, security maintenance, backup, and support.

Annual fixed fee
4

Consumption

Cloud services, model endpoints, storage, networking, and third-party usage operate within an approved consumption budget.

Prepaid variable budget
Managed platform plans

Start with the platform; size infrastructure separately.

The prices listed include the DataKnobs intelligence platform and managed environment, with activation and variable provider consumption being charged separately.

Total commercial model

No unlimited infrastructure promise.

Customers have visibility into fixed, scoped, and consumption-based costs.

One time

Activation fee

$15K–$150K+ depending on integration and production complexity.

Annual

Platform subscription

Based primarily on production Data Products and governed intelligence.

Annual

Managed environment

Fixed operations fee based on topology, environments, security, and SLA.

Prepaid

Usage budget

Cloud, LLM, storage, networking, and licensed third-party consumption.

Infrastructure usage is never "unlimited." Customers must choose an initial budget and approval policy prior to the start of production.
Illustrative usage bands

Estimate first. Meter actual usage.

These bands assist with financial planning; final estimates are based on workload profiling and a proof-of-value test.

Controlled

$2K–$5K/month
Illustrative provider-consumption budget
  • Scheduled batch processing
  • Moderate document or record volume
  • Selective LLM evaluation
  • Standard storage and retention

Business

$5K–$20K/month
Illustrative provider-consumption budget
  • Several active pipelines
  • Frequent monitoring and evaluation
  • Higher AI reasoning volume
  • Multiple data sources

High Scale

$20K+/month
Custom committed capacity
  • Large-scale or streaming workloads
  • Document, vector, or multimodal processing
  • High-frequency agent execution
  • Dedicated or accelerated compute

Illustrative only. Final cost depends on providers, models, regions, record types, processing frequency, retention, availability targets, and workload architecture.

Financial controls

Managed infrastructure with enterprise guardrails.

Required protections

  • Prepaid monthly or quarterly usage budget
  • 50%, 80%, and 100% consumption notifications
  • Customer-selected hard stop or graceful degradation
  • Written approval before budget increases
  • Workload-level metering and cost attribution
  • Daily forecasting and anomaly alerts
  • Model routing, caching, filtering, and sampling
  • Quarterly reconciliation and capacity review

What DataKnobs should not offer

  • Unlimited LLM calls or tokens
  • Unlimited data processing or storage
  • Silent pay-as-you-go overages
  • A single fixed price without workload profiling
  • Annual reconciliation after costs have already accumulated
  • Unbounded third-party API or licensed-data usage

For workloads that are particularly volatile, either customer-owned infrastructure or a larger prepaid budget commitment is necessary.

FAQ

Common managed-infrastructure questions.

Does the displayed annual price include cloud and LLM consumption?

The price shown includes the subscription to the intelligence platform and managed environment service, while the variable provider consumption is covered by a separate prepaid usage budget.

Why not include unlimited usage?

Analyzing thousands of small records or processing billions of documents or continuous multimodal streams are just some examples of workloads that may vary greatly. Unlimited pricing could either be too costly or result in low-volume customers subsidizing high-volume ones.

What happens when the budget reaches its limit?

The customer can select from various options for their policy: hard stop, prioritizing noncritical work in the queue, reverting to lower-cost processing, decreasing sampling, or seeking approval for extra prepaid capacity.

Does DataKnobs mark up provider usage?

The preferred model uses transparent provider-consumption reporting plus a clearly stated managed-environment fee. Taxes, provider commitments, and procurement charges should be defined in the order form.

Can we move to our own infrastructure later?

Yes. Portability should be included in the architecture and agreement. Migration services may be separately scoped while the DataKnobs platform subscription continues.

When should we use customer-owned infrastructure instead?

Leverage customer-owned infrastructure for significant, unpredictable, sensitive, or heavily integrated workloads, particularly when the customer has existing enterprise cloud discounts and established platform operations.

Start with a measured workload.
Scale only after the economics are visible.

DataKnobs analyzes the workload, predicts usage levels, implements controls, and begins operation with a prepaid budget and clear approval guidelines.
